About the event

Behind the iconic facade at 215 Laan van Meerdervoort in The Hague, chamber music concerts are held on a regular basis. On November 7, flutist Sarah Ouakrat performs alongside violinist Floor Le Coultre, pianists Maarten den Hengst and Ivana Alkovic, and tenor Michael Bennett in a diverse programme at the Davidsbündler Music Academy's salon.

Flutist Sarah Ouakrat arranged masterpieces by Schubert, Ravel, Debussy and Prokofiev. She found her inspiration in the Proustian involuntary memory theme. A home experience of a new Proustian Parisian Salon! Sarah performs together with violinist Floor Le Coultre, pianist Maarten den Hengst, pianist Ivana Alkovic, and tenor Michael Bennett.

Doors Open: 19:00

Concert Starts: 19:30

Sarah Ouakrat is the Principal flutist of the Dutch National Ballet Orchestra in Amsterdam and a member of the modern music ensemble Collegium Novum Zürich in Switzerland. She is also part of the unconventional collective Pynarello, based in the Netherlands, where performances consists of performing by heart, standing up, non-traditional instrument placements and, without a conductor.

Violinist/violist Floor Le Coultre, winner of the Young Dutch Music talent title in 2011, established herself as a passionate and profound chamber musician. As a violinist and violist, Floor performs regularly with guitarist Martin van Hees. She is a member of the Hermitage Quartet,  Ensemble 150, a duo partner with pianist Maarten den Hengst, and duo partner with violinist Tim Brackman.

Besides his love for the solo piano repertoire, pianist Maarten den Hengst is also a sought-after chamber musician in all possible occupations and repertoire. Dutch national newspaper Trouw reported that Maarten's audience's applause "grew into a roar of approval".  He forms the Amarcord Duo together with pianist Ivana Alkovic.

Pianist Ivana Alkovic forms the Amarcord Duo together with Maarten den Hengst (surprise!). Serbian born pianist Ivana Alkovic has displayed her virtuosity and musical maturity at concerts and international festivals throughout Europe and the USA. Ivana Alkovic has won prizes at many national and international competitions such as the Kawai competition in Tortona, the Young Pianists award in Belgrade, the Nikolai Rubinstein competition in Paris, the Ignaz Pleyel competition in Vienna, the Villa de Capdepera competition in Mallorca and the Petar Konjovic competition in Belgrade.

A specialist in contemporary music, tenor Michael Bennett has worked closely with composers Marc Monnet and Param Vir as well as Ensemble Modèrne and Ensemble Psappha. Recent and future engagements of Michael Bennett include BOB BOLES Peter Grimes Theater Basel, QUINT Turn of the Screw New Israeli Opera, and WITCH/SAILOR in Sasha Waltz’s hugely successful production of Dido and Aeneas Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Waldbühne Berlin, Staatsoper Berlin, and Saddlers Wells.
